Mary, Mother of Jesus
Accounts of Mary, Mother of Jesus, are found in the Gospels of Matthew,
Luke, and John and in the Acts of the Apostles.
From these brief accounts, a large Marian Tradition has developed and the
Church has proclaimed her Virginity and Immaculate Conception.
Reflect on Mary’s attitude, “nothing is impossible with God,” on her
awareness of his presence and on her prophetic voice.

John Paul II
Pope John Paul II was known as the people’s pope.
He spoke many languages and traveled the world connecting with everyday
Catholics championing human rights. He was a moral leader on political-economic
and social-cultural issues and met with many outcasts, even forgiving the person
his would-be assassin. Reflect on
prayer, the sanctity of life and simplicity of living.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Born and baptized Agnes Bojaxhiu, Agnes’s early life centered around her
parish. At age 18 she entered the
convent and later taking the name, Teresa, was sent to
Calcutta to teach in a girl’s Catholic High School.
Years later she experienced a call to minister to the poor.
Within time, her order became known as the Missionaries of Charity.
Reflect on listening to God in silence, on the meaning of becoming
childlike, and on true peace.
